MECHANICAL FITTER

    BAE Systems Australia is the prime contractor for the design and construction of the Landing Helicopter Dock amphibious ships for the Royal Australian Navy.

    In order to provide sufficient resources for the upcoming ship outfitting work commencing in April 2012, we are now seeking suitably qualified and experienced mechanical fitters to work in the following areas:

    • Military marine vessels new build
    • Military marine vessels refit and repair
    • Military personnel carriers' modification and repair
    • Commercial ships repair
    • Construction projects
     
    As the ideal applicant, you will have:

    • Mechanical Fitter experience
    • Australian recognised qualifications
    • Unwavering commitment to safety
    • Experience reading, interpreting and working to drawings & diagrams
    • Experience working to close tolerances
    • Solid mechanical aptitude
    • Great communication skills and the ability to work as part of a close knit team
    • Attention to detail and pride in your work
    • A strong work ethic and flexible attitude

    Desirable Criteria (not essential):
    • Experience in a shipbuilding environment will be highly regarded
    • Turner Qualification
    • Rigging and/or Scaffolding Licences
    • Welding Qualifications
    • Forklift Licence
    • Current Construction Induction Card
